Bio:

Mr. Owsley is the director of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiative at Rockhurst High School where he teaches AP Calculus II. He was formerly the chair of the Mathematics department for six years. He earned a BA in Mathematics from the University of Rochester, a MAT from Webster University and an MS in Educational Leadership from St. Joseph's University.

About the course:

This Fall’s course focuses on Probability, a mathematical concept that has both practical relevance and important mathematical applications. The course will teach probability while exploring many real-world applications from finance to decision-making to poker.

NOTE: The class will be held at Rockhurst High School in Room 107. Please enter the building through the Barry Commons Doors. This entrance faces north towards the large parking lot. I will be waiting for students there and we will take a couple or right turns to find room 107, which has windows facing the north parking lot.

The course will be streamed virtually as well. If you wish to attend the course virtually, please send an email to the instructor (gowsley@rockhursths.edu) to get the zoom link. All students, virtually or in person, will be using interactive software to navigate the material and keep everyone included.
