Instructor: Christopher Ernst

Level: Middle School (6th-8th)

Bio:

Christopher Ernst graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Engineering Mathematics Minor from Saint Louis University in Saint Louis, MO in 2018. Upon graduation, he resolved to scratch the teaching itch he’d felt since his days at St. Thomas Aquinas High School rather than pursue a path in engineering straight out of school. This lead him to Teach for America and to Las Vegas, Nevada where he taught at Eldorado High School for 5 years. He now resides in Olathe, KS with his wife and teaches mathematics at St. Thomas Aquinas. He drives students to challenge themselves and perform at his or her personal best each and every day. He loves using group and class activities to keep math class lively and fun, while still keeping rigorous problem solving at the forefront.

About the course:

This Fall’s course focuses on Probability, a mathematical concept that has both practical relevance and important mathematical applications. The course will teach probability while exploring many real-world applications from finance to decision-making to poker.
